The 15-year reign of Angela Markel, the colossus of Europe, came to an end today.
Angela Markel went from working at a laboratory to leading the largest economy in Europe.
Markel grew in East Germany where she was familiar with the Berlin Wall, spies, stasi and informers.
She was a pastors’ daughter and she studied Physics at Karl Marx University in Leipzig and later a doctorate in Quantum Chemistry.
