Ashraf Ghani, former president for Afghanistan, is reportedly in exile in Oman after fleeing the country following the Taliban’s takeover.

 

Russian sources revealed that he is in exile in Oman. Earlier reports pointed out that he had fled to Tajikistan following his escape from Kabul effectively ceding power to the Taliban on Sunday August 15. 

 

The Taliban terrorist group took over Kabul on Sunday following the withdrawal of the US troops . Ashraf Ghani fled Afghanistan to avoid “bloodshed” . This effectively bring to an end nearly 20 years of western intervention. 

 

The Russian Embassy in Kabul stated that Ghani had fled Afghanistan using a helicopter full of cash and he is reported to have left some money behind because it would not all fit in. He also escaped with 4 cars.

There are no official reports on the whereabouts of the former Afghan President. However, Russian sources are insisting that he flew directly from Kabul to the Sultanate of Oman across the Persian Gulf from Afghanistan. 

 

Al-Jazeera later reported that the former president has flown to Uzbekistan quoting his personal bodyguard. 

 

 

 ‘There is no exact information about the whereabouts of the escaped president. According to some sources, he flew from Kabul directly to the Sultanate of Oman,’ stated an unnamed diplomat. 

 

So far so good, Kazakhstan has denied reports that the former president of Afghanistan flew via her territory.
