The number of confirmed coronavirus cases around the world has passed 33 million, according to the data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

The US has the highest number of confirmed infections, with 7.1 million, followed by India, with nearly 6.1 million, and Brazil, with 4.7 million.

The global death toll is nearing 1 million. As of Monday at 1100HRS EAT, 997,966 people had succumbed to the virus.
