Covid-19 which which broke out in December 2019 in Wuhan City, China has finally spread to most countries and territories around the world.
Now it seems like an endless curse which is bedeviling human beings. For seven months the virus has brought the world economy onto its knees.
Millions have lost their jobs all over the world. In that respect, it is estimated that 36.5 million Americans have already lost their jobs due to Covid-19. According to McKinsey, a total of 7.6 million jobs are at risk in the United Kingdom due to Covid-19.
In June alone, Germany announced that 69,000 people had lost their jobs due to Covid-19.
The East African newspaper has reported that so far, 1 million job losses has occurred in Kenya alone. Before Covid-19 emerged, Kenya had predicted that its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will grow by 5.7 percent. However, now with Covid-19, the country’s GDP is projected to grow by 1 percent!
