Coronavirus or COVID-19 is spreading fast around the world. That is why the World Health Organization has called it a global pandemic. 

“Somalia Minister of Health Dr. Fawziya Abikar announces the first case of #CoronaVirus in the country. Somalia banned all international flights for for two weeks effective March 18. #COVIDー19, ”  Harun Maruf 

A Somali national who is reported to have returned from one of the affected countries tested positive for coronavirus. 

Voice of America (VOA) predicts that an outbreak of COVID-19 in Somalia would be a catastrophe considering that the country has been engulf in decades of lawlessness and violence leaving it with no proper system of healthcare.

Somalia has banned international flights to and out of the country effective from March 18. This will affect airlines from Kenya, Uganda, Turkey and Ethiopia who operate in the country. 

Harun Maruf of VOA reported that only specific humanitarian aid flights will be allowed to operate.
