OBURU ODINGA IS RETIRING FROM POLITICS
The 74 year old nominated Member of Parliament Oburu Odinga told the media that he is retiring from active politics. He said this when he was withdrawing his application to represent Kenya at the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).
Dr. Oburu Odinga is one of the longest serving Members of Parliament in Kenya.
He responded to the allegations that his brother and presidential candidate Raila Odinga was practicing nepotism.
Raila does not make me what I am. I’m older than him and he found me in politics.” Oburu Odinga said.
Dr. Oburu Odinga was defeated during the Orange Democratic Party Movement (ODM) primaries by the incumbent Mr. Gideon Ochanda.
Oburu Odinga told the media during a press conference in Mombasa that he will now focus on campaigning for his young brother to win the race to state house.
Oburu Odinga first joined politics in 1974 when he became a Councillor in Kisumu City Council. At that time his father was a member of parliament for Bondo Constituency.
