Mombasa Deputy Governor Defects to Jubilee

Hazel Katana, the Mombasa Deputy governor has defected to Jubilee party from ODM. She now wants to become Mombasa Senator and has launched her bid to that effect. This may be a big blow to his governor Hassan Joho.

Hazel Katana reported to the media that she felt cold in ODM.

She urged governor Joho to respect her decision. Richard Chacha, the Mombasa County Communication Director said that this defection was a relief to ODM.

Hazel Katana was welcomed to Jubilee by a group of women leaders from across the country. The function took place at Lohar Hall in Mombasa.

She said that her idea of defecting has been in mind since 2016. At one point she was ejected from her office during the by-elections campaigns in Malindi. This was after she was accused for campaigning for Jubilee candidate.

During that time she was denied some her benefits such as office car and furniture for her office. This was later returned to her. The county vehemently denied her claims.

The nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi also stated that Hazel has not been receiving her salary for the last one year.

The Mombasa Communication director responded by saying that Hazel is just playing politics.
