The millions of people sending in their applications for jobs in India is a clear sign that there is rampant unemployment in the country.

“A lot of applicants are overqualified, and even PhD holders are applying for the technicians job,” said a railway official when briefing the media houses.

It’s also a leading employer with 1 million workers serving the commuters.

Elsewhere, in West Bengal, back in 1999 the government advertised 281 jobs and the response was massive. A total of 2.3 million people applied for consideration. The story is the same when India is recruiting members for the police force.
